So my university communications department saw the article about me that I posted the link to earlier and asked me if they could send it to news affiliates in Des Moines and my hometown of Sioux City Iowa.  I didn't see why not, so I allowed them to send the link to the article.  Well the next day I was bombarded by three newspapers and a tv station that wanted to interview me.  I was sooo excited!  Below are the links to the articles and tv spot. So over the last couple of months I have been mulling over a contest called threadcakes http://www.threadcakes.com/.  I picked out a couple of designs and started making one this week.  The design I chose is http://media.s6cdn.net/cdn/images/post_11/196111_11782374_l.jpg . I have learned a couple of new techniques by making this cake.  Some techniques I learned are sugar gems, making a gumpaste crown, making gelatin wings and making an ivy vine.  I will be posting the finished cake soon.
