Nightmare Before Christmas cake by cake-engineering Nightmare Before Christmas cake by cake-engineering
I made this cake for a client for his 2 year anniversary. Sadly the moon on the topper broke during delivery. The cake flavor is red velvet with cream cheese frosting. The hill is made out of rice crispy treats covered in fondant. The whole cake was first air brushed purple then with black to give it a marbled look. I also painted on some tombstones and bats and added fencing, a tree, and jack-o-lanterns. I'm pretty pleased with the way it turned out.

I love it too! Coincidence I made a NBC for my daughters birthday with a lot of similar characteristics. Check it out on my page. I cheated on the characters, though : (

I did see your cake. I thought it was interesting how one side was all Winter themed and the other was NBC, but stitched together Tim Burton style. Very cool concept.

Thanks. Keep up the amazing work. It is so weird how you can get so involved in creating this stuff. My husband doesn't understand how I can spend so many hours doing it, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

Firstly, I've never used an airbrush, so hats off to you for that, it's a great effect. I love the characters on top....:aww:

Thanks! I find it so much easier to use an airbrush to color fondant especially when there are dark colors such as purple or black involved. The characters were probably the hardest for me since I have difficulty replicating faces and making people.

I still haven't been brave enough to use an air-brush. I always think that knowing my luck, I'd spoil it.
....the characters will get better the more you do them, but theres nothing wrong with these ones :)

You should go ahead and try it, I really like mine and am glad I spent the money to purchase it. Yeah I guess the old adage of practice makes perfect would apply here.
